Lincoln BIG

WONDERFUL WORLD OF ART

If you love browsing and buying real works of art, make a date to catch the final Lincoln Artists’ Markets of the year.

Promoter Lincoln BIG is urging shoppers and tourists to make a beeline for the cobbled area between Steep Hill and The Collection on September 27 and October 25.

Every single stall has been snapped-up for the October event and there are only a couple still up-for-grabs for September 27, so visitors can expect to be spoilt for choice by artists and makers offering everything from paintings, to prints, ceramics and glassware.

The popularity of the Artists’ Markets means that Lincoln BIG – which is subject to a reballot by city centre traders in October – is hoping to stage another series of markets next year.

Organiser, glass artist Adele Billinghay, said: “We have already had interest from stallholders, and also shoppers, about potential future events.”

The BIG Art on the Brayford event, which took place in association with Art on the Map in August, also proved to be a winner. It is hoped that another version of that can also be staged next year.

Glass Artist Kevin Wallhead: “This event was run purely for members of Art on the Map. It gave them the chance to talk about their work and to do demonstrations. People were also able to buy artwork.

“This year we had 12 stalls. We would like to repeat the event next year, with more participants, and in a different location.”
