Today, Head of Fashion Week Jess Wickham said there some great reasons for more individuals, families and business to get on board Lincoln Fashion Week (LFW), which will have an aviation theme – acknowledging 2018 marks the Centenary of the RAF.

“We are working hard on our programme, but we are thrilled to say that it will include new features this year, including designer talks and workshops,” said Jess.

“We are now keen to hear from more would-be models for our Catwalk Show at Alive Church in Newland on May 11. We are still looking for people all ages, but we especially want to recruit more men.

“No-one should be shy.  We have lined-up two special boot camps. These are taking place at the Church on March 20 and April 23, from 6pm to 8pm. They will help everyone to confidently “strut their stuff” on the catwalk,” said Jess.

Anyone interested can sign-up for the boot camps on Eventbrite.

“But there’s another fantastic reason to get involved. The charity we are supporting, the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, which will benefit from receiving 50 per cent of our ticket sales, is working towards 24-hour flying.”

The service’s ambucopter can reach any point within the two counties in less than 20 minutes and take a patient to the nearest hospital in as little as eight minutes.  It responds to some of the most serious 999 calls 365-days a year and currently needs to find £2.5m a year to keep flying.

“Its enhanced Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS), which it hopes to offer by the end of the year, will see that figure increase to nearly four million pounds a year,” said Jess.

Models taking part in the LFW finale will be showcasing clothes from a range of stores, from Gere Menswear to Debenhams, M&S, outlets in the city’s Waterside Shopping Centre, as well as many independent boutiques.

LFW will also be focusing on accessories, hairstyling, beauty and wellbeing.

The main sponsors for the week are The Waterside Shopping Centre, St Marks Shopping Centre and the motor group Pentagon.  All have financially-backed LFW.

Other businesses who want to snap-up this opportunity to showcase their fashions, hair and wellbeing products and services, should email Jess Wickham.
