Scooter-lovers will be creating a buzz along Lincoln’s Waterfront on Saturday (July 15), with an amazing display of classics, produced mainly by the likes of Lambretta and Vespa.
Icons of the 1950s and 1960s Youth culture “The Mods” and still popular with “revivalist mods” and collectors today, scooters from all over the country will be heading for Lincoln for the crowd-pulling Scoot to the Waterfront event.
Organised by the Lincoln Knights’ Scooter Club and staged in partnership with Lincoln BIG, the event – which runs from 10am to 5pm – adds up to a great day out for all the family.
Lincoln Knights’ Scooter Club member and organizer Dave Walker said: “Last year’s event attracted 450 scooterists and this year promises to be just as popular.”
The charity event will feature a “show and shine” competition, with trophies to be won; memorabilia and parts stalls, refreshments and a ride out to Lincoln Cathedral and back.
Live music will include an acoustic set from Yoshi of The Jexits (The Jam Tribute Band) and The Interceptors from Nottingham, who will playing on a stage near the Holiday Inn.
Internet radio Mod Radio will also be broadcasting in the morning.
Plenty of refreshments will be available and people can also visit the many Waterfront bars and restaurants and even take time out of their day to explore the city centre.
