Lincoln is a historic city with a vibrant and contemporary edge that adds an exciting dimension to any visit.
A visit to Lincoln offers rich history combined with boutique shopping, great culture and a wide variety of places to eat and drink. The city is easily walkable with the main shopping areas stretching from St Marks Shopping Centre up the High Street and famous Steep Hill to Bailgate and the Cathedral Quarter.
To help get up and down the hill easily, you can use the Walk & Ride bus, also known as the Steep Hill Shuttle, or the hop on and off Tour Lincoln: the city's open-top tour bus. However Steep Hill is worth the effort to climb: it was voted Britain's Great Street and is lined with unique vintage shops, fashion boutiques and tea rooms.
The crown of Lincoln is Lincoln Cathedral, seen at the top of the hill from miles around. Standing opposite is the Norman Lincoln Castle, home to one of only four remaining exemplars of Magna Carta, sealed in 1215.
This history of Lincoln stretches back almost 2000 years when the city was first built by the Romans: parts of their ruins can still be seen in the city today.
There is so much to see and do in the city, the only way to find out is to visit for yourself.
