With Christmas just around the corner, City of Lincoln Council is happy to announce a festive bonus for shoppers in Lincoln, with free parking in uphill Lincoln every weekend until Christmas – encouraging everyone to shop local this December.
The council made the decision today in light of the closure of the final day of the Lincoln Christmas Market and the feedback that has been received.
The free parking offer will apply to over 300 spaces in five car parks, bringing shoppers straight into the heart of the Bailgate and historic Lincoln.
Angela Andrews, Chief Executive of City of Lincoln Council said: “We cannot emphasise enough how upset we are at having to close the Christmas Market one day early, and we totally empathise with local businesses as we know how much the Market brings to the local economy.
“We love Lincoln and we want to let our wonderful, unique businesses know that we will always try to do what we can to support them.
“Hopefully this parking offer will encourage those people looking for Christmas gifts to shop local and shop Lincoln.”
The free parking offer will be available 8am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday – 16 & 17, 23 & 24 December. It will cover car parks at The Lawn, Westgate 1, Westgate 2, Westgate 3 and St Paul’s Lane.
