Lincoln BIG is giving families the chance to have a sneaky peek at the magical world of pantomime dames and festive drama queens this Christmas.
The Business Improvement Group has been involved in “behind the scenes” meetings and helped to plot a fun event, which will give people the chance to meet some of the star characters behind the city’s forthcoming pantomimes and Christmas Shows.
Our “sneaky peek” collaboration, which is taking place in the Waterside Shopping Centre on Saturday, November 24, will also feature a special craft market with 20 stalls and much more – so make a date to go along.
Lincoln BIG Events & Promotions Manager Michael Armstrong said: “I’ve been talking to our friends from the Waterside Shopping Centre, Lincoln New Theatre Royal, The Drill Hall and the Lincoln Performing Arts Centre. Together we’ve cooked-up what promises to be a fun day.
“Children and adults alike, are going to love meeting cast members from our Christmas shows. We’re sure they’re going to be larger than life and have lots to say for themselves!”
The Waterside Shopping Centre is hosting this special event, which will feature lots of colourful craft stalls, offering people an extra opportunity for people to snap-up unique Christmas presents.
Waterside Shopping Centre General Manager Dean Cross said: “For the last couple of years we’ve worked closely with teams that produce Lincoln’s excellent Christmas Pantomimes, but it’s mainly been around competitions and people haven’t had the opportunity to meet all the stars and spend time with them.
“We’re delighted to be hosting this “sneaky peek” collaboration. It will be a feast of festive fun! And, as it is taking place on the same day as our popular monthly craft fair, people will be able to pick up a truly unique and wonderful Christmas gift at the same time!
Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs
Lincoln New Theatre Royal is staging a favourite panto this Christmas – Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs. It runs from December 4 to January 6.
Marketing Manager Amelia Chambers said: “The New Theatre Royal is excited to be involved in the craft event showcasing the Winter season highlight, The Christmas Pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. There will be storytelling sessions for little theatregoers and Show White-themed arts and crafts too.”
At Lincoln Drill Hall, in Free School Lane, the cast of Peter Pan is looking forward to transporting families to another world, with performances running from December 6 to January 5.
Chief Executive Officer Chris Kirkwood said: “Lincoln Drill Hall and Jamie Marcus Productions have been producing magical pantomimes for audiences across the city and beyond for eleven years.
“This year, Peter Pan will be our most spectacular production yet, a rollercoaster of laughter for all the family. We’re delighted that our flagship show is a central part of Christmas for thousands of people and this chance to give them an opportunity to meet some of the characters from the show is just fantastic.”
And Lincoln Performing Arts Centre (LPAC), on the University of Lincoln Campus, has a double treat in store. Families will be able to enjoy the magical musical play Rapunzel (for youngsters aged 6-upwards) in the main auditorium or take those aged three-upwards to see Penguins, Penguins, Penguins.
LPAC is hoping to offer workshops, inspired by these shows, at the Sneaky Peek event.
