Fans of one of motoring’s most enduring icons are being encouraged to “take it to the max” on Lincoln BIG’s Mini Day.
The Business Improvement Group and co-organiser Trent Valley Mini Owners Club is ready to welcome hundreds of mini lovers to the city’s Brayford Waterfront this Sunday (April 14) to see a fantastic display of about 200 classic and BMW minis, check out customized versions and chat to their owners.
It’s an occasion not to be missed. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Classic Mini – designed by Sir Alec Issigonis - once driven by everyone including Paul McCartney, Twiggy and Jeffery Archer and still a hot favourite today.
In addition to lots for Mini fans to enjoy, the owners of the Best Classic and Best BMW minis will be awarded prizes.
Lincoln BIG Chief Executive Sarah Loftus said: “Lincoln Mini Day is one of our most popular annual events and it traditionally attracts Mini fans from miles around, including families who travel to join us from way beyond the county’s borders.
“We are offering everyone an extra warm welcome this year and encouraging families to “maximise” their day out by taking a look at how the city has changed over the past few months.
“We are sure many will be surprised, particularly with Lincoln’s new transport hub, the stunning progress being made on the £70 million Cornhill Quarter project which is transforming the city’s Cornhill area and the arrival of many new names in shopping.
“We are also encouraging people to have fun by downloading the LoyalFreeApp - which was recently launched in the city – and take advantage of a wide range of shopping, leisure and eating out discounts.”
The App can be downloaded from the App Store by Apple iPhone users or from Google Play for those with an Android phone. Shoppers can also take advantage of Lincoln’s free Wi-Fi.
