Lincoln's vibrant mix of shopping, sparkling events, panto fun and a gift of a competition, are just some of the exciting elements awaiting residents and visitors to the city over the festive period.
With 2015 expected to be a key year for Lincoln, we are keen to ensure that everyone is impressed with what the city offers and leaves with memories of its warm welcome.
Schoolchildren, families and business groups have already booked thousands of sessions on our coolest attraction, the Lincoln BIG Ice Rink. It holds centre stage in City Square and will be operating every day right through to December 31 (except for Christmas Day and Boxing Day).
We have arranged Christmas trees to be on display throughout the city centre including on the buildings of many businesses across the city.
We helped to organise the Artists' Christmas Village during the Christmas Market and also ran the Lincoln BIG stage on Bailgate during the market to bring some entertainment and atmosphere to the historic area.
We've got festive farmers', artists' and crafts markets throughout the month:
- Farmers' Markets take place on Dec 10 (High Street) and Dec 20 (Castle Hill).
- Artists' Market will be staged in Castle Hill on Dec 13.
- More Craft Markets will be held on Dec 13, and from Dec 20 - 24 (all on the Cornhill).
On Thursday December 11 there's an opportunity for people to enjoy Carols in the Cornhill and Thursday December 18 is the date of this year's popular Lantern Parade, which will see schoolchildren winding their way from the Cornhill to Castle Hill.
We are encouraging shoppers to try their luck in our 12 Days of Christmas competition, where they could win loads of great gifts, from Apple accessories to cocktails, beauty items and even dinner, bed and breakfast for two. We would like to thank our generous levy payers for supporting this.
Please watch out for the January edition of City Talk - which is being produced in print format - and which will include your copy of the Lincoln BIG 2015 Year Planner.
