City Centre Wardens

Our Street Wardens are at the core of Lincoln BIG services and aim to provide a warm welcome for visitors and provide safety and security to our levy paying businesses.

 The Wardens:

  • Provide a visible presence on the streets within the BID area and act as the eyes and ears of Lincoln BIG.
  • Complete minor maintenance jobs such as gardening and gum removal.  Any jobs outside the Wardens remit are reported to the appropriate authority ensuring the streets are clean, well maintained, and welcoming.
  • Act as a welcome host for visitors
  • Are Ambassadors for Lincoln BIG providing regular interaction with the Levy Payers ensuring businesses understand the range of services we provide.
  • Are First Aid and AED trained, through their contact with the CCTV team they are often the first ones to respond to incidents.

Lincoln BIG's Safety & Security Manager.  Yvette Mills is proud of the services the wardens provide to the city:

"The Wardens provide an important Security presence to the levy payers.  This is predominantly as a deterrent to prolific criminals, but also as a support when dealing with and reporting incidents of crime and ASB.  They provide radio accessories and training to levy payers when required.  They work closely in partnership with the City Centre Policing Team as well as the PPASB (Public Protection and Anti-Social Behaviour) team from the City of Lincoln Council to combat any City Centre issues".

Crime Liaison Officer:

In February 2024 Lincoln BIG partnered with Lincolnshire Police to launch a new initiative which resulted in the creation of a new Crime Liaison Officer role.  The role was designed to create a new and more streamlined way of working and is available to all Security Group Members.

When an incident of shop theft is reported online or via 101 the Crime Liaison Officer will attend your store to assist in statement writing and evidence gathering.  Once all evidence has been collated it is then submitted to the Police for investigation.

This has proved very successful in raising the report rate for shop theft, which in turn has raised prosecution and conviction rates as well as increasing the amount of active CBO’s (Criminal Behaviour Orders)
