On the 4th and 5th of July 2025, the University of Lincoln will host BioBlitz 2025 at its Brayford Campus - a vibrant, 24-hour event celebrating nature, community science, and biodiversity.
This engaging event invites members of the public, students, staff, and families to take part in one of the region's largest biodiversity surveys. Over the course of 24 hours, participants will have the opportunity to discover local wildlife, join in expert-led activities, and explore the natural environment in new and exciting ways.

Bookable sessions include:
* BioBlitz 2025 launch event
* Pond dipping
* Owl pellet dissection
* Bat walk and talk
* Mammal tracks and trails
* Incredible insects ID
* Footprint tunnel DIY
* Plant ID and wildflower walk (sessions with expert botanist Professor Libby John)
* Pollinator surveys
* Early morning moth ID
* Beginners birding
* Beetle ID
* Bird photography
* Lincoln Swan Project talk
* Closing evening quiz and ceremony (teams of up to six)


Saturday will also feature a wide range of drop-in activities, such as:
* Microscope stations
* An expert tent (featuring some of Lincolnshire's top naturalists)
* Mini BioBlitz challenges
* Colouring station
* Local wildlife group stalls
* Nature detective trail
* A campus-wide litter pick
* The official launch of the iBiodiversity app, offering attendees the first opportunity to use this new nature-recording tool

BioBlitz 2025 offers a unique chance for the local community to engage directly with biodiversity research, learn new skills, and contribute to environmental awareness on campus and beyond.

Friday sessions will meet outside the Ross Lucas Medical Science building, Saturday sessions will meet outside the Minerva building. Full details and meeting locations will be sent after booking.


The University reserves the right to postpone or cancel any events subject to inclement weather or other extenuating circumstances. Due to the nature of BioBlitz wildlife surveying events, dogs are not permitted, guide dogs are the only exception. Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
