Lincoln was bursting with excitement this weekend as over 12,000 spectators lined Flaxengate for the return of the UK’s largest touring soapbox derby – Krazy Races. Delivered in proud partnership with Lincoln Business Improvement Group (BIG), the event was a celebration of community spirit, creativity, and family fun – all while raising vital awareness and funds for headline charity, LIVES.

Nearly 30 wildly creative teams—representing local businesses, charities, and community groups—hurtled down hill in handmade, gravity-powered soapboxes. Racing head-to-head in the shadow of the iconic Lincoln Cathedral, past The Collection Museum, teams brought energy, imagination, and plenty of KRAZY fun.

This year’s event featured brand new challenges including a speed bump obstacle, making the 2025 Lincoln Krazy Races bolder, faster, and krazier than ever.

The day kicked off at 10:45am with a high-energy performance from Explosion, a local cheerleading team (aged 12–15) who recently returned from the World Cheerleading Championships in Florida, placing 18th. The day was officially opened by headline charity LIVES, who took to the track alongside their mascot and the event’s own Krazy Dog.

Crowds were kept entertained all day by the event's host Cal Halbert, comedian and Britain's Got Talent contestant, whose humour and energy kept spirits high—even during a few surprise rain showers.

After a full day of thrills, laughter, and some epic crashes, the top three racers crossed the finish line with razor-thin margins:

1st Place – Runaway Ruston’s – 13.38 seconds
2nd Place – Rand Farm Park – 13.89 seconds
3rd Place – Lincolnshire Freemasons – 13.95 seconds

But speed wasn’t everything! Special awards included:

Team of Teams Award – Team Cushty for their Only Fools and Horses-inspired Reliant Robin, voted by fellow teams
Best Krazy Designed Kart – Cockadoodledoo Marketing, with a kart made from recycled milk bottles
Public Vote Award – Newman Moore, with nearly 1,500 votes for their incredible Toy Story-themed RC car

Best Performance Award – Super Spiffing 7 for their Chicken Run-themed routine
Danny Scoffin, Head of Brand at Sarah Belcher Events, said:

"Last year’s Lincoln event was fantastic, but this year surpassed all expectations. The teams were incredible – some of the best-designed and best-themed soapboxes we’ve ever seen. Despite a bit of rain, the crowds came out in force, and it was a joy to see so many smiling faces. A massive thank you to our friends and partners at Lincoln BIG for inviting us back and being such brilliant supporters of the event."

Lee Roberts, Head of Operations, Lincoln BIG

“It was great to welcome back Krazy Races to Lincoln for 2025.  Following the success of last year, we were keen to see the event return as part of our programme of events for 2025.  Seeing the crowds enjoying the event and enjoying the city in the summer sun was fantastic.”
