Isaac Newton 300
It's Time to Discover a City-Wide Adventure!
Something BIG is coming to Lincoln!
Isaac Newton 300 is coming to the city in Summer 2027, transforming Lincoln into a spectacular outdoor gallery celebrating one of history’s greatest thinkers and one of Lincolnshire’s most famous figures.
From Tuesday 30 June – 22 September 2027, the streets of Lincoln will be filled with incredible apple sculptures, each one bringing its own story, creativity and connection to Isaac Newton. Keep your eyes peeled as you explore — you never know where you might discover your next apple!
Created by Lincoln BIG in partnership with Wild in Art, Isaac Newton 300 will be a free, family-friendly and fully accessible art adventure for everyone to enjoy.
The trail will feature a collection of large, artist-designed apple sculptures, each created by talented artists and sponsored by businesses and organisations from across Lincolnshire and beyond. Alongside these, you’ll discover a dedicated schools trail featuring medium-sized sculptures created by talented local children and young people.
The trail celebrates the 300th anniversary of the death of Sir Isaac Newton, whose connection to Lincolnshire forms an important part of the county’s history. Through art, science, creativity and discovery, Isaac Newton 300 will bring his story to life in a way that everyone can enjoy.
And there’s plenty more to discover along the way.
Throughout the summer, we'll be bringing the trail to life with family activities, community events, educational opportunities and science-inspired experiences, giving visitors even more reasons to explore Lincoln and discover something new.
Best of all, the trail is completely free to explore.
Whether you're a local looking for a family day out, visiting Lincoln for the first time, or simply want to see what all the excitement is about, Isaac Newton 300 is the perfect way to explore the city this summer.
The trail will also support our Charity Partner, Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, helping to raise awareness and vital funds for the lifesaving work they carry out across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
So grab your family, get your walking shoes ready and start planning your trail adventure.

Artisit Call Out
Lincoln BIG are bringing their fourth Wild in Art event to Lincoln in support of our Charity Partner, Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance. Isaac Newton 300 will be a city-wide sculpture trail in Summer 2027 to mark the 300th anniversary of Sir Isaac Newton’s death and create a lasting positive impact on Lincoln.
We are inviting artists, illustrators, and designers, primarily from the local area, to create engaging and inspirational artwork that will bring our apples to life. The call out to artists information pack is attached to this email together with the design templates (side 1 and side 2).
The apple sculpture is a versatile 3D canvas suitable for a wide range of creative approaches, from fine art and graffiti to new media and mosaic. The form also connects directly to Isaac Newton and his discovery of gravity. Each apple is 110 cm high and 100 cm across. Please check that you are available to paint an apple between March and April 2027 before applying.
