The installation will help animate the city - bringing vitality and life to the High Street during the dark February evenings!

All We Need Is Love is a new community projection project for Lincoln that will be shown on the outside of the House of Fraser building in the High Street. This project will consist of a short digitally animated film on the theme of Valentines and what people love, which will be projected on a loop from approximately 5pm – 11pm everyday during 10th – 19th February 2023.

As Valentine’s Day falls in the middle of the week, the theme of the film will be about love, but all kinds of love - people, things, places, hobbies… maybe even ideas!

Everyone was encouraged to get involved and email a photo or drawing of someone (or something) they really love! The creative team went through all the images showing many different sides of love, in the finished projection. We look forward to finding out what the people of Lincoln love most and for Different Light to create a special community film to brighten up the High Street during the dark days of February!

Take a look at some of Different Light's previous projects below:

Simon Hollingworth is a local freelance Creative Producer and part of Different Light, a Lincolnshire collective of producers, technicians and artists who devise and deliver a range of community engagement projects that often use light and sound. Simon said “we are delighted to be bringing this project to Lincoln in the February half term and can't wait to see that corner of the High Street above House of Fraser animated and illuminated.

As soon as we spotted the Lincoln Creates project through Lincoln BIG, we were excited to apply and are so pleased our application was successful. The fact that people will be able to get involved with the project by sending in images of people and things they love should make it all the more special and we are confident that the finished piece will look fantastic and will really brighten up the High Street with a message of love and tolerance".

This project has been made possible with the support of Lincoln Creates 2022, which is a Lincoln BIG initiative aiming to support new creative art projects in Lincoln City Centre – promoting collaboration between artists and local businesses. Following his successful application to the programme, Simon was awarded the maximum grant of £5,000 from the Lincoln Creates fund, with the total project costing £6,800.

Without the help of the Lincoln branch of House of Fraser and Ringrose Law, this project couldn’t come to life.
