Tour of Britain comes to Lincoln!
The Tour of Britain is set to arrive in Lincoln and Lincolnshire this September 2026—and it’s fantastic news for our city. This high-profile, internationally recognised sporting event on the 2nd (Lincoln stage one) and 3rd (Boston – Skegness stage two) September will bring a surge of visitors to the area, boosting footfall across hospitality, retail and attractions. With coverage beamed to audiences around the world, Lincolnshire will be firmly in the spotlight, showcasing everything that makes our city and county unique.
A snapshot and key impacts from last year’s race:
Visitors travelled from far and wide with around one in five spectators travelling over 50 miles to attend. On average, each visitor spent £224 on things like accommodation, food and drink, transport, shopping and parking. Altogether, that added up to a huge £27.8 million in attendee spending across the event, with stage one alone (so like the upcoming Lincoln stage) generating £6.5million in attendee income. Plus, last year’s Tour achieved media coverage worth £4million across broadcast, press and social media*.
By working together, we can make the most of this opportunity—creating a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere that helps our destination truly stand out. Importantly Lincoln will host both the start and finish of stage one, meaning that spectators should remain in the vicinity and provides an opportunity to increase visitor dwell time on the day. Now is the time to start thinking about how you can get involved, engage visitors, and showcase what you do best. Keep an eye out for a dedicated business guide coming soon, packed with ideas and support to help you make the most of the Tour of Britain.
