Lincoln BIG are working with local distiller Lincoln Gin to produce and supply hand sanitiser for the city's bid levy payers to support the city's aim to 'Keep Lincoln Safe'. After hearing about Lincoln Gin’s #CommunitySpirit Initiative, we joined forces with the local distillery to distribute hand sanitiser to the city centre bid levy paying businesses, ready for when shoppers return and the retailers open their doors again.

Thinking ahead of retailers opening and staff returning to work following lockdown, Sarah Loftus CEO of Lincoln BIG wanted to ensure that all businesses in Lincoln city centre, including the smaller independents, had access to hand sanitiser to keep shop owners, staff and shoppers protected.

Sarah said “I knew that hand sanitiser was difficult to obtain so, I wanted to try and source some for our levy payers.”

The supply of hand sanitiser hopes to give confidence to staff and customers and to ‘Keep Lincoln Safe’. Social distancing posters and floor stickers are also being distributed to levy paying businesses in Lincoln to help. These are all available on a first come, first served basis from Lincoln BIG.

“We really want to help Keep Lincoln Safe for when people start returning back to the City Centre.” continued Sarah. "The alcohol content of the hand sanitiser needs to be at last 60 percent to be effective in helping fight the virus, and distilleries are just the place to make this new type of spirit. "

Owner of Lincoln Gin, Matthew Felgate, has been working hard with his team for the past two months to produce and supply the hand gel to charities and those working with or caring for individuals who are vulnerable.

Matthew said, “We were happy to help provide a number of handy bottles of the WHO (World Health Organisation) recommended hand rub for distribution among city of Lincoln businesses and will supply more if there is a demand for it.”
“We appreciate everything Lincoln BIG does for their members and partners across the city and am grateful to have been given the opportunity to help.” Matthew continues.

Lincoln BIG’s city centre Wardens are set to distribute the hand gels, as well as posters and stickers, to all levy paying businesses over the next few days.
