REMEDY is a new national photography festival exploring health, wellbeing and identity, launching across Lincolnshire this June, with strong representation from local photographers alongside established national and international names.

Local voices in the programme include University of Lincoln photography student Poppy Bellamy, whose work explores chronic illness from the perspective of a young person navigating education, identity and daily life, and Lincolnshire photographer and teacherTobias Beach Wyld, who presents a personal body of work on living with ulcerative colitis.

Their work is shown alongside leading documentary photographers including JA Mortram, Anthony Luvera and Cheryl Newman. REMEDY is supported by Arts Council England and the Usher Gallery at Lincoln Museum.

Festival organisers Marion Sander and Jeremy Jeffs said:

“This feels like a significant moment: a national photography festival exploring health—one of the defining issues of our time—launching from Lincoln with local and national support.”

Running from 1st –30th  June 2026, REMEDY takes place across Lincoln, Skegness and Sutton-on-Sea, with exhibitions and events in galleries, public spaces and cultural venues throughout the county.

A county-wide programme of exhibitions and public events

Key exhibitions include:

  • Emil Peltola at Lincoln Arts Centre, documenting life with ME/CFS
  • Anthony Luvera at Lincoln Central Library
  • JA Mortram – Small Town Inertia at the Embassy Theatre, Skegness

Across the programme, artists address chronic illness, neurodivergence, gender transition, infertility, and lived experience of health, with many projects developed in close collaboration with participants.

Festival weekend and public programme

The main festival weekend takes place 19–21 June at the Barbican Creative Hub in Lincoln, featuring artist talks, presentations, a digital showcase of all works, and a symposium exploring the ethics of photography and health. All weekend events are free to attend.

A wider programme of workshops will run across the county, including photography and wellbeing sessions in Sutton-on-Sea led by Sam Atkins, and a professional development workshop with Anthony Luvera at the Usher Gallery in Lincoln.

To mark its launch, REMEDY will also offer a £5,000 commission for a UK-based photographer to develop a new body of work exploring health, identity or lived experience. The commission is funded by the Usher Gallery at Lincoln Museum.
